Data places UC among top choices in KY in multiple categories.
Not only is University of the Cumberlands seen as the safest college campus in Kentucky, but, compared with other schools in the Commonwealth, data collected by Niche also places Cumberlands as the best Christian college and best online college.
Cumberlands holds the number-two spot for best college campus, best small college campus, and top private university in the state. It earned third among Kentucky colleges for best dorms, best food, best education programs, and best psychology programs.
The rankings come from Niche.com, a search site that connects users to information about colleges and universities as well as places to live, places to work, and K-12 schools. The organization approaches their college ranking calculations a bit differently than other sites; for instance, they don’t consider any data submitted by the college itself or any third-party “experts.” Instead, they rely on sources such as the U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation – and, most notably, Niche user data and reviews from real college students. Though some rankings focus on classic categories like academic success, others are centered around the college experience outside the classroom, like what the food on campus is like, how safe the campus is, and so on.
Throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, Cumberlands has received similar rankings from other sites like CounselingPsychology.org, which ranked Cumberlands’ online PhD in counselor education and supervision No. 1 in Kentucky and No. 2 in the U.S.; Intelligent.com, which listed Cumberlands in the top 5 for five different ranking lists involving counseling, social studies, and business programs; and various other sites which have listed Cumberlands among the most affordable programs of their kind nationwide.
Rankings can only tell a person so much, though. The way to truly understand what a college is like is to visit. University of the Cumberlands is hosting its next Patriot Preview Day on Saturday, April 13th, from 10am – 2pm. To register, visit www.ucumberlands.edu/visit
