Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Campus will close on December 18 for the holidays and will reopen on January 2.

University of the Cumberlands (UC) is ranked No. 88 in the nation in online bachelor degree programs according to a U.S. News report released today. Only one other university in Kentucky ranked higher. U.S. News reviewed nearly 1,500 online degree programs, using a specific methodology that focused on student engagement, student services, faculty credentials, and peer reputation to finalize the rankings.

In addition to the bachelor’s program ranking, Cumberlands is recognized by U.S. News for offering other quality programs online at the graduate level. The University’s online graduate education program ranked No. 88 overall, with its graduate criminal justice program ranking No. 6 in the nation.

“We are truly delighted to see our programs recognized again for academic excellence,” said Dr. Christopher Leskiw, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.  “These rankings are consistent with our institutional mission of making quality educational programs accessible to all students.  What distinguishes UC in a large market of online programs is not just its focus on delivering an exceptional education at an affordable price, it’s the service-minded culture.  It’s more than a customer service mentality.  It’s the active fulfillment of the school motto of living a ‘life more abundant.’”

U.S. News states that, for working adults with some college credit, completing a four-year degree online may be the most practical way to obtain the knowledge and credentials needed to boost their careers. Thus, programs were ranked on how their material is being delivered and the program’s effectiveness at awarding affordable degrees in a reasonable amount of time. The hope is that this ranking list will help prospective students select schools that are right for them.

“Our goal at University of the Cumberlands is to provide effective, affordable education to anyone who needs it, whether they be first-time freshmen or members of the workforce returning to finish their degrees,” said Dr. Larry Cockrum, President of the University. “We are pleased that our online programs, which provide even more students with opportunities to achieve excellence in their careers and daily lives, have received such high recognition. We are proud of our programs, the faculty who teach them, and the students who engage in them.”
