The University of the Cumberlands English Department will host a writing workshop for local high school students at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 21 in the Bennett Building. The workshop is geared toward those wanting writing tips for Governor’s Scholar essays, college entrance essays, scholarship essays, etc.
Professor Jamey Temple, a writing instructor in the department, will lead the two hour session. “After working with several local students, I see the need for this workshop. Students want to know how to make their writing stand out from the pile. There are strategies that can be learned, which will make their writing more engaging,” she said.
Admission is $5, and the workshop is limited to 24 students, which will conclude at noon. For more information or to reserve your spot, call the English Department at (606) 539-4455.
