Info sessions connect prospective students to faculty and important program information

A Doctoral degree in physical therapy is more than a piece of paper—it’s a gateway to a career in one of the fastest-growing and top-paying fields and a pathway to making a profound, lasting impact on patient’s lives.

Students interested in pursuing a career in physical therapy should consider attending an information session hosted by the Connie D. Hauser Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of the Cumberlands. The sessions are virtual, and event dates and times vary. Attendees will gain valuable insight from faculty and staff about the application process and program details. Faculty will provide a detailed overview and then open the floor for questions.

Cumberlands’ Doctor of Physical Therapy is a two-year (six-semester), full-time graduate program. Students engage in an accelerated and dynamic curriculum consisting of courses in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, neuroscience, clinical patient management courses, and more. Instruction takes place online, on campus, and in physical therapy settings. Self-guided online coursework, live classes in a virtual format, immersive on-campus lab experiences, and clinical education training in various practice settings are key components of the program. A bachelor’s degree and specific prerequisite coursework are required for admission, but a master’s degree is not necessary.

The Connie D. Hauser Doctor of Physical Therapy program recently celebrated two major accomplishments. The program was launched in 2022 and was granted full accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) on November 25, 2024. The program also honored its first cohort of graduates, consisting of twenty-two students, this December 2024.

“I am so proud of the many milestones our program has achieved in such a short time,” said Dr. Vicki LaFay, program director. “Our accomplishments represent the hard work of so many, and we remain focused on delivering a rigorous, accessible, and supportive DPT education.”
