Dr. Patrick Mensah joined the University of the Cumberlands faculty after nearly twenty-five years of professional service in information technology and operations within the banking and retail industries. He received his associates of science degree in computer information systems from Ashworth College in 2008, Bachelor of Science degree in IT - Networking and Telecommunications in 2013, master of science degree in information technology in 2015, and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Colorado Technical University in 2019 with a field of study spanned across big data analytics, enterprise information systems, and information security. Additionally, Dr. Patrick Mensah holds multiple industry-standard technical certifications such as MCP, MCSA, MCDST, A+, Network+, CCNA, DELL-DCSE, HP- APS (Accredited Platform Specialist) and IBM- Certified Systems Admin, Business Systems Analysis, Project Management for Information Technology Professional, and ITIL Practitioner.
In Dr. Patrick Mensah’s research, he explored the use of innovative strategies such as Information Technology Road Mapping and Cloud Technologies such as Software as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service to drive competitive advantage in the 21st-century globalized economy by providing organizations with infrastructure scalability, security, stability, and sustainability. In addition to his dissertation research, other areas that interest him for future research stems from Strategic Business / Technology solutions in Distributed Computing Platform and the adaptation of Data Center as a Service, Device as a Service and application of enhanced cybersecurity tools to mitigate and manage information security risk and vulnerabilities within distributed computing platforms.
Since coming to the University of the Cumberlands, he worked for JP Morgan Chase Bank for 18 years, where he held multiple positions ranging from systems engineer, voice and data center operations engineer, infrastructure and operations manager, service delivery manager, and global infrastructure support leader for investment banking. He was part of the eight-member JP Morgan Chase Enterprise Contact Center Services diversity council, where he partnered with Human Resources and executive leadership teams to design job enrichment programs to promote job progression and create opportunities to leverage skills, cross-train, and retain talent within the firm.
Additionally, Dr. Patrick Mensah partnered with Genesys Works, a none for profit organization in Houston, Texas to create job opportunities and corporate mentorship programs for senior high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experience and mentorship/coaching for students getting ready to enroll into college. He was also a volunteered online information technology teacher at his previous church for four years, where he helped designed courses to advance senior high school and college students understanding to basic and advanced technologies as it pertains to Software, Hardware, Networking, and Cloud Computing.
An important aspect of his life is family -- his wife (another academic in Clinical Nursing), two sons and one daughter.
