Dr. Jonathan E. Shores, Jr., Chief Master Sergeant (retired) in the United States Air Force, serves the University of the Cumberlands as Executive Vice President for Enrollment Management. In this role, Dr. Shores is responsible for providing leadership and overall direction in enrollment planning, recruitment, and admission. In short, he oversees the vision, strategy, and implementation of all student recruitment and manages budgets across departments to meet annual goals.
Dr. Shores has spent more than half his life working in higher education and has experience helping over 200 collegiate institutions reach record levels of enrollment, both directly and indirectly. Prior to joining the Cumberlands team, he worked at Ardeo Education Solutions as Senior Vice President, where he addressed college affordability and the value of education to support institutional growth. He also worked at three different colleges, most recently as Vice President for Marketing and Enrollment.
Within the Air Force, Dr. Shores served as an advisor for a 4-Star General and Command Chief of Air Mobility Command, the largest command within the U.S. Air Force. He is a veteran of Operation Joint Forge, Operation Joint Enterprise, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Allies Refuge, and served as part of the War and Contingency Planning career field.
In addition to his service, Dr. Shores has taught as an adjunct professor at Cumberlands and has published or presented at over 150 journals or conferences since entering higher education in 1997. During his military career, he was awarded more than a dozen honors and decorations.
