Dr. Sargent has been a practicing physical therapist for 30 years in a wide range of clinical settings. She is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. Her teaching interests involve musculoskeletal patient management, biomechanics, kinesiology, and clinical reasoning. She provides physical therapy services in rural and medically underserved areas in her home state of Vermont. Dr. Sargent believes that physical therapists play a vital role as part of the primary care team. In 2022, Dr. Sargent received the Dean's Faculty Innovation in Teaching Award at the University of Vermont.
Dr. Sargent serves on the Executive Board of the Vermont chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association and is an active member of the Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapy and the APTA Academy of Education. She lives in northern Vermont with her family where she enjoys rock and alpine climbing, hiking and backcountry skiing.
