New Year, New Fave Spot on Campus

Everyone needs a change of scenery at times while studying, spending time with friends, or having some quality alone time to recharge between classes. After a while, it can be easy to get in the groove of going to the same old spots. There’s nothing wrong with routine, but, if you're looking for a new place, here are some well-loved hangout locations on campus.

Quiet As Can Be

If you need absolute silence when you study, your best bet is a study room in the library. Be sure to make a reservation beforehand by going to www.ucumberlands.edu/academics and clicking on the Library tab.

Some academic buildings also have their own study rooms or seats that are perfect for studying in between classes.

Coffee Coffee Coffee

If you need caffeine or a fun drink while you work, try studying in one of the three coffee shops. We have one in the Mid, and one in the library, which you may already be familiar with.

If you are up for a short walk or drive, visit Coffee Spot on Main and use a meal swipe for a drink or snack. Stay on the Cumberlands WiFi to study or write discussion boards in an atmospheric setting. A variety of seating options and lots of outlets make it a great spot to meet with friends.

Comfort Above All Else

If you don't mind a little noise, and couches are your seat of choice, there are several spots on campus for you.

At some point, you have probably been to the Mid. The couches in the front section of the Mid are nice, but if you want a little less noise, head into the back of the Mid by the Patriot Pride sign and choose a seat there.

Most campus housing also has couches and other seating in its lobby area. While not the most secluded spot, this could be a great spot to get a little bit of work done.

Warmer Days are Coming

It may be chilly out now, but when the weather warms up again, there are many outdoor places perfect hang out spots. 

Take your hammock out to Patriot Park to lounge with friends and work with full wifi coverage. No hammock? No problem. Patriot Park also has picnic tables or porch swings just for you. 

Speaking of picnic tables, dozens of tables are located across campus. Find one closest to your next class and get to work. A few are even near solar chargers where you can make sure your devices won't die. 

Wherever you choose to spend your time on campus, make sure to get your homework done and enjoy the time you have!
