Admission Requirements

Freshman Admission

Application for admission should be made as early as possible during the senior year of high school. Acceptance for admission may be granted at any time during the senior year; however, the final high school transcript must be evaluated before admission is final.

A candidate for admission to the freshman class must submit the following items:

  1. This completed online application.
  2. An official high school transcript with the grade point average computed on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Official scores from either the American College Test (ACT) or the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT). ACT and/or SAT score report labels appearing on official high school transcripts are acceptable for admission decisions. However, an official profile is required for athletic eligibility.
  4. Any additional information as requested by the university to determine admission eligibility.

Students with GED certificates or students who have been home schooled should submit items noted in 1, 3, and 4 above. Additionally required are:

  • A copy of the GED certificate or home school transcript.

After notification of acceptance and before final admission is granted, the candidate must submit the following items:

  1. An official, after graduation, final high school transcript showing the grade point average computed on a 4.0 scale, the final class rank, and the date of graduation.
  2. If you have taken college or university courses during high school, have an official copy of your final college transcript forwarded to our registrar.
  3. Any additional information as may be required by the university.
Reentering Admission

A reentering student must submit the following items according to the number of semesters since last attending University of the Cumberlands:

  1. This completed online application
  2. Any additional information as may be requested by the university

After notification of acceptance and before final admission is granted, the candidate must submit the following items:

  1. Completed Housing Form and Health Form or housing exemption form.
  2. Exemption form is available following completion of the housing form. Each request for exemption will be reviewed by the Dean of Student Life
  3. Any additional information as may be required by the university
Reentering Transfer Admission

A reentering transfer student must submit the following items:

  1. This completed online application
  2. An official transcript from all colleges you have attended
  3. Any additional information as may be required by the university

After notification of acceptance and before final admission is granted, the candidate must submit the following items:

  1. A final official transcript from the college you are currently attending if not already sent
  2. Completed Housing Form and Health Form or housing exemption form. Exemption form is available following completion of the housing form. Each request for exemption will be reviewed by the Dean of Student Life
  3. Any additional information as may be required by the university
Transfer Admission

A candidate for transfer admission must submit the following items:

  1. This completed online application
  2. An official transcript from ALL colleges you have attended
  3. Any additional information as may be required by the university

After notification of acceptance and before final admission is granted, the candidate must submit the following items:

  1. A final official transcript from the college you are currently attending if not already sent
  2. Completed Housing Form and Health Form or housing exemption form. Exemption form is available following completion of the housing form. Each request for exemption will be reviewed by the Dean of Student Life
  3. Any additional information as may be required by the university
Special Admission

A special student must submit the following items:

  1. This completed online application
  2. Any additional information as may be required by the university

After notification of acceptance and before final admission is granted, the candidate must submit the following items:

Transient Admission

A transient student must submit the following items:

  1. This completed online application
  2. A completed transient approval form from the college you are attending
  3. Any additional information as may be required by the university
International Admission

To be considered for admission, an international student must submit the following:

  • Submit a completed International Student Admissions Application
  • Submit a copy of the photo page of the student’s Passport. (This is extremely important. It will help us to correctly list the student’s name on all official documents, according to immigration requirements.)
  • Submit a certified, official secondary school report or transcript and Exit Exam or School Leaving Exam scores, if available. Any school documents submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. 
  • Transfer students must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended and currently attended. 
  • Submit official TOEFL or IELTS test scores required from students whose first language is not English, or from students who were not educated through an English Language delivery method.
  • If available, submit scores from the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT). (ACT or SAT scores are not required of international students if an ACT or SAT test score is available, the TOEFL or IELTS score is not required.)

Students without either the ACT or SAT must submit a score report from the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL); the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or the Society for Testing English Proficiency (STEP Eiken)
