Kyla Fitz-Gerald Receives Gorman Jones Scholarship

 


Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands presented the Gorman Jones Scholarship to Kyla Fitz-Gerald of Lexington, Ky during the annual Honors Day awards ceremony in the O. Wayne Rollins Center on April 25th, 2011.

Kyla Fitz-Gerald is a junior pursuing a major in History and a minor in Criminal Justice. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Fitz-Gerald of Lexington, Ky.

The Gorman Jones Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student that shows evidence of strong academic proficiency. It is named after former Cumberlands professor Gorman Jones, who labored from 1891 until 1936 in service of local youth and the college.

Also on Honors Day, Fitz-Gerald was honored as a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society in history.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
