WILLIAMSBURG, KY.—University of the Cumberlands student Jon Jasper presented his senior art exhibit, “Temporary Stasis of Order,” to the public April 11 through 15 in the J.M. Boswell Art Gallery on UC’s campus. A reception was held for him on Friday afternoon, April 15. Jasper’s work consists mainly of cubist, abstract oil paintings, although his show also displayed his work in etching, chalk pastel drawing, conte drawing and ink monoprint with chalk pastel. “Cubism is a big influence,” Jasper said, naming artists Sigmar Polke, Leon Golub and Nancy Spero as three of his biggest inspirations. Jasper, an art and psychology double major, plans to attend the University of Louisville after graduation and study art therapy. “It’s a way to continue in my two interests [art and psychology],” said Jasper. Jasper is a native of Corbin. |
