WILLIAMSBURG, KY.—University of the Cumberlands’ student Donna Strong presented her senior art exhibit, “Sequences" to the public March 21 through 25, and a reception for the artist was held on Tuesday evening, March 22, in the J.M. Boswell Art Gallery on UC’s campus. Strong’s collection was a mix of different mediums, including black and white digital photography, taken with a Nikon D-80, pencil, charcoal, ink print, pen and ink, wood sculpture and plaster sculpture. Her subjects were mostly fellow UC students, but some were family members, as in “Concealed,” a 30x20 photo of Strong’s grandfather, Willis Strong. Strong’s niece, Alexis Martin, is the subject in the photo “Experiences,” and her cousin Brandy Amburgey is in the photo “Collude.” “Bulah ‘Boo’” is the title of an 8x10 pencil drawing of her late grandmother, Bulah Strong. Strong is an art and business major and native of Hazard, Ky. |
