Dr. Chuck Lawless featured at Cumberlands’ Franklin P. Owen Conference

Dr. Chuck Lawless addresses Cumberlands students during the 2011 Franklin P. Owen Conference.

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.--Dr. Charles Lawless served as the speaker for University of the Cumberlands’ annual Franklin P. Owen Conference on Missions and the Church held Monday, March 7 through Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Dr. Lawless is Dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions and Evangelism at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, President of the church consulting firm, the Lawless Group, and a consultant on Global Theological Education for the International Mission Board.

While on campus Dr. Lawless spoke twice in convocation and taught three classes. Using examples of people he had met in his travels, he spoke of the need for people across the world to know and become disciples of Jesus Christ. He also provided examples of individuals serving on the mission field in many capacities and encouraged students to consider engaging in their careers overseas where they could also involve themselves in reaching the lost for Christ and then helping them mature as Christians.

Dr. Lawless pointed out to students that when Jesus sent his disciples out, he always empowered them to do what he called them to do. He assured us that God would do the same for us as we share the gospel.
