Dr. Michael Colegrove, director of Student Services at Cumberlands explained to the elementary students the significance of the 13 folds and explained Veterans’ Day to the students. “It is a holiday to honor those who have protected our nation,” he said. Sasha Bargo, a teacher at Whitley County Primary, led the students in singing patriotic songs, including “This Land is Your Land.” “It is wonderful to see the kids’ faces light up when you tell them about Veterans’ Day and what it means,” said Bargo. “Uncle Sam” was on hand to assist with the commemoration, and members of the ROTC unit presented each child with a miniature American flag. |
