Fitness 5/Dare to Compare event to be held at University of the Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands will host a Fitness 5/Dare to Compare Health and Fitness Fair, “D2C!—The Formula for Fitness!”on Thursday, September 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at the O. Wayne Rollins Center gym and the James H. Taylor II track and football field.

An annual, free event sponsored by UC’s Department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science and the Cumberland River Comprehensive Care Center, Dare to Compare is a fun health and fitness educational program for all ages. The public is encouraged to take advantage of free health assessments screenings provided during the day’s festivities. There is no need to sign up – just show up!

“We will have easy, fun, health-measurement tests; entertainment exhibitions and swimming; cholesterol, blood glucose and blood pressure testing and total body composition screenings, as well as door prizes,” said Dr. Cindi Norton, professor and chair of Cumberlands’ Health, Exercise and Sport Science (HESS) Department. “Our program is designed to help our campus and community members learn more about their health and fitness in order to live a happier and healthier life, and best of all, everything is free.”

Participants are encouraged to go to the James H. Taylor II track and football field for the walk/run component of the screening. Please wear comfortable attire and tennis shoes. For more information, please contact Dr. Cindi Norton or the HESS Department at (606) 539-4360.
