Clayton honored at University of the Cumberlands


Carol Clayton receives award from Ms. Norma Patrick, Co-Chair of the Education Department.

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Carol Ann Clayton received the Education Department’s 2010 Secondary Education Award at the 51st annual Honors Day Convocation, on April 26, at University of the Cumberlands. She was also recognized for Honor at the University.

Clayton completed her bachelor’s degree and Social Studies Secondary Education certification requirements in December 2009. She was an Academic All American as an active member of UC’s swim team, and a member of Phi Alpha Theta, being published in the Phi Alpha Theta Upsilon-Upsilon chapter’s yearly journal.

Departmental awards are awarded based on a student’s academic achievement, service to the department and service to the University. Students recognized for Honor must attain a minimum of 3.70 cumulative standing. Phi Alpha Theta is a national honor society.

Clayton is from Calhoun, Ga. and is a graduate assistant in the Education Department at the University, working on her master’s degree.
