Thompson honored at University of the Cumberlands


Tommie Thompson receives honors at Convocation.

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Tommie Thompson received the Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship for 2010-11 and the 2010 Angel Unaware Award during the 51st annual Honors Day convocation at University of the Cumberlands on April 26. She was also recognized as a student of Honor, and she was named to membership in Kappa Delta Pi, a national honor society for students of education.

Thompson, of Pioneer, Tenn., is a junior pursuing a degree in early elementary education.

Thompson is the second recipient of the Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship presented by Alpha Delta Upsilon, University of the Cumberlands’ chapter of the international honor society in education.

The Angel Unaware Award recognizes a University of the Cumberlands student who selflessly helps others through acts and deeds of kindness; who gives of himself/herself far beyond what is expected; who is always there to lend a helping hand, and who does so without expecting recognition.

To receive recognition for Honor, a student must attain a minimum of 3.70 cumulative, grade point average.
