Senior art Major Marisa Lobacz presents exhibit at Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands art department held a reception on Thursday April 22 for art major Marisa Lobacz, whose senior art show was on exhibit at the J.M. Boswell Art Gallery, from April 19 to 23. The exhibit was comprised of several vibrant oils on canvas as well as a few unique sculptures.

The first thing noticeable in Lobacz’s work is her deep appreciation of oils. When asked about her use of oils she said, “I enjoy the fluidity of the medium and the fact that I’m able to mix it with so many different mediums as well as all of the effects that can be achieved with it.”

“One of my most memorable moments during my years at Cumberlands would have to be our (the art department) trip to Atlanta to experience the work of the masters that we had been studying in class,” said Lobacz.

Lobacz is from Acworth, Ga., and after graduation she plans to pursue her master’s degree while teaching art and continuing to develop and grow her skills as an artist.
