Olivia Herrell’s senior art exhibit presented at University of the Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands art department held a reception for senior art major Olivia Herrell, on Friday April 16. Herrell’s senior art exhibit “Through the Looking Glass,” was on exhibit at the J.M. Boswell Art Gallery of the Andersen Building. From April 12-16. The exhibit was comprised of acrylic mixtures as well as unique sculptures.

When Herrell was asked about her decision to work with acrylics, she responded that she enjoyed the medium because it was easy to work with and it gave her many color options to explore, all the while joking that its price advantage was also a plus.

Herrell stated that the art department had affected her because it almost felt like a second home. “During my time at Cumberland, Ms. Allen and Mr. Weedman encouraged me and gave me the freedom to experiment and work with anything that I wanted in the department,” she said.

Herrell is from Bethlehem, Ky., and after graduation she plans to enter the workforce for a while before going to the University of Kentucky to pursue a Master’s degree in Library Science.
