UC’s “Our Gift To You” to Air on Several Regional TV Stations

University of the Cumberlands’ Chorale is one of the groups who perform in the Music Department’s Christmas video production, “Our Gift To You” every year.

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — University of the Cumberlands' Christmas music program, "Our Gift to You," is scheduled to air in Bowling Green, Lexington, Louisville and Knoxville, Tenn., during the Christmas Season.

Bowling Green’s WBKO-ABC will air the program on Sunday, Dec. 20th at 12:30 p.m. Lexington viewers can watch the program on WKYT’s CW channel on Sunday, December 20, at noon. In Knoxville, WBIR will broadcast “Our Gift” on Christmas eve at 4:30 p.m. and Christmas morning at 6:30 a.m. The program also will be available on Louisville’s CBS affiliate, WLKY, on Christmas Day, at a time yet to be announced.

Each year, UC’s Music and Video Productions departments produce “Our Gift to You,” a thirty-minute, un-interrupted program, which showcases the talents of students in the Cumberland Singers, the Chorale and Chamber Choir. Directed by Dr. Jeff Smoak and David Etter, the groups share traditional and contemporary music to celebrate Christmas and the season of sharing.

Many, but not all, members of these groups are music majors or minors, but membership is open to all UC students. Chamber Singers is an SATB group of 16-18 individuals, and membership is based on auditions, in which students must demonstrate not only vocal skills but also the ability to read music. This group performs in the Madrigal Dinner each December as well as in concerts on campus and in local churches. The Chorale, a larger group, which performs on campus and travels on behalf of the University, performing in many different venues around the country, also requires an audition. Membership in Cumberland Singers, a group that performs on campus, requires only a love of singing.

Alumni, faculty and staff members, friends, students and community members, alike, look forward to each year’s new “Our Gift to You.”
