WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The faculty and staff of the University of the Cumberlands Music Department will present the 17th annual Phyllis Richardson Wood Music Scholarship Benefit Concert on Tuesday, September 15. This music scholarship fund provides financial assistance each year to one or more students who major in music at University of the Cumberlands. The family of Phyllis Richardson Wood, long-time resident of Williamsburg, established the scholarship in her memory and in honor of her ardent support of the arts.

The music faculty includes Jeff Smoak, Gayle Majors, David Etter, David Threlkeld, Jim Corcoran, Patrick Tuck, Steve Sudduth, and Kay Dawn McFarland. Each of the faculty will perform on his/her principle instrument. Student Jared Adams, this year’s Phyllis Richardson Wood Scholarship recipient, will also perform “A Cricket Sang and Set the Sun” by Blake Tyson.

The concert will be presented in the Nell Moore Recital Hall of the Grace Crum Rollins Fine Arts Center on the campus of University of the Cumberlands at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15. The concert is open to the public for donations of $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. All proceeds will go to the Phyllis Richardson Wood Scholarship Fund.
