Cumberlands Begins New School Counseling Master's Degree

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — University of the Cumberlands announces the recent addition of the Master of Arts in Education: School Counseling program. The program consists of forty-eight semester hours and provides certification as a school counselor to serve in grades P-12.

The program can be completed in a 100% online format, the first of its kind for this degree in the state of Kentucky. Five of the graduate counseling courses require students to complete field-experience hours, allowing for hands-on application. That experience, coupled with the practicum and internship experience, provide the non-classroom experiences needed for an outstanding counselor program.

Dr. Larry Cockrum, Vice President for Academic Affairs, states, “The School Counseling program is one in great demand for our region and for the state of Kentucky. We are proud to be among the regional pioneers in online education for this and other graduate education programs.” For more information on the program, please contact the Graduate Admissions office at (606) 539-4390 or at
