Ms. Jane Carter, associate professor of business administration, presents the Management Information Systems Award of the Hutton School of Business to Stephen Tipton during Honors Day Convocation

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Stephen Tipton, son of Mr. & Mrs. Roy Dwayne Tipton, of Connorsville, In., received the Management Information Systems Award of the Hutton School of Business during the 50th annual Honors Day Convocation at University of the Cumberlands on April 27. A member of Sigma Beta Delta National Honor Society, Tipton also was recognized as a Student of High Honor and was inducted into the J.T. Vallandingham Scholastic Honor Society.

The J. T. Vallandingham Scholastic Honor Society requires each member to have completed at least 96 semester hours as a full-time student and have a GPA of 3.5 or better each semester. Students must also have a cumulative standing of 3.7 or better. The society is named for John Thompson Vallandingham, who served Cumberlands for more than sixty years in a variety of positions, including dean of men and associate professor of mathematics.

During Commencement on May 9, Tipton received a Bachelor of Science degree, with a double major in business administration and computer information systems. He graduated with the distinction of magna cum laude, which requires a GPA of 3.85 to 3.84.
