Maiden Drug awards $2,000 to scholarship winners

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.–Maiden Drug, located in Williamsburg, recently donated $1,000 scholarships to two local high school graduates. Rebecca Hill and Kelly Bryant received this year's Deborah Carol Childress Memorial Scholarship. The girls are newly graduated from Whitley County High School and Williamsburg Independent School, respectively.

In 2005, University of the Cumberlands alumni and owners of Maiden Drug, Roger and Jonathan Powers, established the scholarship in honor of their late niece. A high school graduate from Williamsburg Independent School and Whitley County High School are awarded the scholarship. The students must be education majors enrolled at University of the Cumberlands.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, is a private liberal arts college in its 118th year of operation. Cumberlands offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields of study, 30 minors and nine pre-professional programs, graduate degrees and certifications in education as well as online programs.
