Baker Receives History and Political Science Award

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – John Baker, of Corbin, was honored as the 2007 recipient of the History and Political Science Award during the Honors Day service held at University of the Cumberlands on April 23. The history and political science department annually awards students based on scholarship and service to the department and university.

Baker, who is graduating this spring, is a member of the J. T. Vallandingham Scholastic Honor Society, and upon his graduation, will be named a Presidential Scholar. He plans to attend graduate school and pursue a Ph.D. in history.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, is a private liberal arts college in its 118th year of operation. Cumberlands offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields of study, 30 minors and nine pre-professional programs, as well as online and accelerated, nontraditional programs for adults.
