Atwood Receives Award for Excellence in Education

 


WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands Department of Education annually honors students for their dedication in the classroom and their potential for success as an educator. David Atwood of Atlanta, Ga., was presented with the middle school education award during the Honor’s Day service held at Cumberlands on April 23.

Atwood will be receiving his teaching certification in middle school mathematics and social studies. While at Cumberlands, he served as a STAR for the Insights program, was a member of the Show Choir and is a member of the Kentucky Education Association Student Program. He also volunteered to teach sign language classes. He has participated in mission trips to Cincinnati, Ohio and Nice, France.

David Atwood is the son of Richard and Judy Atwood and is the fiance of Magan Hess.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, is a private liberal arts college in its 118th year of operation. Cumberlands offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields of study, 30 minors and nine pre-professional programs, as well as online and accelerated, nontraditional programs for adults.
