Chijoike Umunnakwe Receives T.J. Roberts Leadership Award

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands is proud to announce that Chijoike Umunnakwe, of Nigeria, is the recipient of the T.J. Roberts Campus Leadership Award.

Each candidate must have an academic standing in keeping with the standards of the College and can be expecting to receive his/her diploma in the next academic year’s graduation exercises.

Chijoike is majoring in physiology and medical biochemistry. He sings in his church’s choir, is an Academic Resource Center tutor and has worked with Mountain Outreach. He gives of his free time volunteering for lab work and tutoring in the biology department. He plans on getting his Ph.D. and becoming a researcher to remedy the devastation of the HIV/AIDS epidemic he has witnessed first hand.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Ky., is a private liberal arts college in its 118th year of operation. Cumberland offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields of study, 30 minors and nine pre-professional programs.
