Memorial Service held for Madison Wright Morris

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands’ Health, Movement, and Leisure Studies department sponsored a memorial service for Madison Wright Morris on Friday, November 17, in the Kohn Theatre. The object of this memorial service was not only to remember Madison, but also to inform Cumberlands’ students about the importance of being an organ donor.

Madison Wright Morris received a heart transplant at the age of 15, and died from a heart attack six years later at the age of 21, the day after returning from her Hawaiian honeymoon.

Speakers at the service included her friends Tarrah Minor Sexton and Jolina Mills. Madison’s mother, Melissa McDaniel Wright, also read an entry from Madison’s personal journal. In one entry, Madison wrote about how she wanted people to remember her after she died. She lived for Jesus Christ, and He was the center of her life.
