Phyllis Richardson Wood Music Scholarship Benefit Concert

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The faculty of the University of the Cumberlands Music Department presents the 14th annual Phyllis Richardson Wood Music Scholarship Benefit Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19. This music scholarship fund provides financial assistance each year to one or more students who major in music at Cumberlands. The family of Phyllis Richardson Wood, long-time resident of Williamsburg, established the scholarship in her memory and in honor of her ardent support of the arts.

The music faculty includes Jeff Smoak, Gayle Majors, David Etter, David Threlkeld, Rich Byrd, Jim Corcoran, Laura Chipe, Sean Greene, Kay Dawn McFarland and Jay Kirchner. Each of the faculty will perform on his/her principle instrument. Student Joshua Slusher, this year's Phyllis Richardson Wood Scholarship recipient, will also perform. The performances will include solos and duets, both vocal and instrumental.

The concert will take place in the Nell Moore Recital Hall of the Grace Crum Rollins Fine Arts Center on campus. The concert is open to the public for donations of $10 for adults and $4 for students. All proceeds will go to the Phyllis Richardson Wood Scholarship Fund.

For more information, please contact the music department at (606) 539-4332 or send an e-mail to crobinso@ucumberlands.edu.
