Dr. Paul Chitwood Speaks at Cumberlands First Convocation of the Semester

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Kentucky Baptist Convention President Dr. Paul Chitwood opened University of the Cumberlands’ fall semester convocation services on Monday, August 28.

“I want to share with you the one who changed my life—Jesus Christ,” said Chitwood. He reminded the campus community to not only know the facts about Jesus, but to also know Him personally and to follow His ways. He gave several yearly statistics such as the number of abused children and murder victims.

“If the world modeled their lives after Christ, these things would stop,” he said.

In his conclusion, Chitwood challenged audience members to model their lives after Him.

Chitwood is a graduate of University of the Cumberlands and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. Since 2003, he has served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Mt. Washington, Ky. Chitwood has also served as a trustee of the Southern Baptist International Mission Board and as an adjunct professor at Boyce Bible College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, is a private liberal arts college in its 117th year of operation.
