University of the Cumberlands again ranked by U.S. News

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands was once again listed in U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Colleges 2007" as one of the top institutions in the South which grants master's degrees.

U.S. News looked at more than 500 schools in the "Best Universities - Master's" category, and Cumberlands ranked in the top 100 in the South. This ranking is higher than several other regional schools, including Cumberland University (Tenn.), and Liberty University (Va.).

U.S. News' rankings are based on several characteristics, the most important of which are peer assessment and graduation and retention rates. Also important are the ratio of students to faculty and how selective the university is. Cumberlands also has a high alumni giving rate, when compared to other listed schools.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, is a private liberal arts college in its 117th year of operation. Cumberlands offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields of study, 30 minors and nine pre-professional programs, as well as online and accelerated, nontraditional programs for adults.
