Laura Brock Earns 2014 Accounting Award from HSB at Cumberlands

 


Williamsburg, KY- University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented Laura Brock (London, KY) with the Dr. Edward L. Hutton School of Business (HSB) 2014 Accounting Award during the 55th Annual Honors Day program held April 27th in the Gatliff Chapel on UC’s campus.

The Dr. Edward L. Hutton School of Business annually presents awards to top graduates based on academic achievement and merit.

Brock was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business and Administration in 2011. Previously the chapter’s Vice President, she currently serves as the President of the UC chapter. Brock was inducted into the J. T. Vallandingham Scholastic Honor Society in the spring of 2013. She also serves as Historian for Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society, and was a spring 2013 inductee into Eta Beta Rho, the National Hebrew Honor Society. At the completion of her freshman year, Brock was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, the National Honor Society for freshmen.

She also been named to the Dean’s List for each semester she has attended Cumberlands. In recognition of her academic achievement, Brock received the 2013 William J. Caldwell Scholarship for outstanding Accounting Students in Kentucky presented by the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants Educational Foundation. Additionally, Brock was a member of the 2013 UC PEAK accounting academic team.

Brock was also named to the University’s High Honor Roll. Students recognized for this honor must attain a minimum of 3.85 cumulative grade point average standing.

While maintaining success in academics, Brock has been active in a variety of campus and community activities, including the HSB Relay for Life team, Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM) Nursing Home Ministry and tutoring in the UC Academic Resources Center. Brock serves her church as instructor in Children’s Church and as a member of Women’s Missionary Union.

She is the daughter of James and Rhonda Brock.
