Abigail Dundon Parsons Earns Accounting Award at UC


Williamsburg, KY. - University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented Abigail Dundon Parsons (Lexington, KY) with the Accounting Award from the Hutton School of Business during the Fifty-Fifth Annual Honors Day Sunday, April 27, 2014 in the Gatliff Chapel on campus.

Abby was inducted into Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business and Administration in 2012. At the completion of her freshman year, Abby was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society for freshmen. She has also been named to the Dean’s List and the President’s list for each semester she has attended Cumberlands. In 2013, in recognition of her academic achievement, Abby received the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants Educational Foundation for Outstanding Accounting Students in Kentucky.

In addition, Parsons was also named to the J.T. Vallandingham Scholastic Honor Society. In order to be eligible for membership, a student must have completed at least 96 semester hours as a full-time student and have a 3.5 standing or better each semester. The student must have a cumulative standing of 3.7 or better. Students who have transferred to the University have a different set of rules depending on G.P.A. and number of hours taken at UC.

Parson was also named to the University’s High Honor Roll. Students recognized for this honor must attain a minimum of 3.85 cumulative grade point average standing.

While maintaining success in academics, Abby has been active in a variety of campus and community activities, including being a member of the UC Varsity Women’s Volleyball team for four years and a member of the 2014 UC PEAK accounting academic team. In recognition of her academic and athletic accomplishments, Abby is a nominee for the Mid-South Conference Scholar Athlete award. Abby was named to Academic All-Conference for volleyball for three years and in 2012, received the Mid-South Conference Champion of Character Award.

Abby is married to Ethan Parsons and is the daughter of John and Cynde Dundon of Lexington, Kentucky.

Abby has been accepted into the University of South Dakota’s Masters of Professional Accountancy program. She plans to sit for the CPA exam within the next year.
