Zachary Shannon Earns Secondary Education Award at UC

 


Williamsburg, KY- University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented Zachary Ryan Shannon with the Secondary Education award during the Fifty-Fifth Annual Honors Day on April 27th in the Gatliff Chapel on UC’s campus.

Each year, the undergraduate Education Department recognizes students for excellence in the areas of elementary, middle school, secondary, and special education certification.

Shannon will graduate with a certification in music education. He was named the Harold Wortman Memorial Scholar for Music Education. He is a member of the UC Shades of Tuba and the National Association for Music Education and serves as president of the UC chapter. He was also a work study in the Music Department.

Shannon is a member of the management team at K-mart in Somerset and coaches the Color Guard at Corbin High School. He presented a seminar at the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Conference, a Professional Development seminar with his cooperating teacher and organized the music Program Review day at Williamsburg Independent School.

He is the son of Pamela Shannon and Edward Rose.
