Brandon Nance named Munro Award Winner


Williamsburg, KY- University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented Brandon Keith Nance (Corbin, KY) with the George S. Memorial Prize in Pre-Medical Studies during UC’s annual commencement ceremony, May 10th, 2014 in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

The George S. Munro Memorial Prize in Pre-Medical Studies is awarded in honor of George S. Munro, a pastor and long-time board member at University of the Cumberlands by his son, Dr. Roger Munro and daughter-in-law, Nancy K. Munro. Dr. and Mrs. Munro give this award to the graduation senior pre-medical student who has achieved the highest grade point average through his or her college career in recognition of academic excellence and effort.

Nance is the son of Keith and Connie Nance of Corbin, Kentucky. He was graduated with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry, earning a 4.0 GPA while attending University of the Cumberlands.

He not only excelled in the classroom but has served as an example to help others. While maintaining his perfect GPA he has been the Treasurer of Beta- Beta- Beta, the Biological Honor Society and served as a student coordinator for Mountain Outreach.

He has been accepted to the University of Pikeville School of Osteopathic Medicine in the fall. Undoubtedly Brandon’s willingness and commitment to serving others will extend into his professional life. We are confident you will continue as a lifelong learner and servant to others.
