Cumberlands honors Ms. Agnes Brown-Oliphant for 2014 Service Award

 


Williamsburg, KY.,- On Thursday, April 24th, University of the Cumberlands (UC) honored Agnes Brown-Oliphant, Administrative Assistant in the Hutton School of Business Department, with the 2014 Service Award at the 22nd annual Faculty-Staff Dinner.

Each year, based on recommendations by students, faculty and staff members, UC honors one staff member with the award. Four areas of service are considered when selecting the recipient: student service, visitor service, staff/faculty service and community service.

Brown-Oliphant has a big personality that makes everyone around her feel needed and included at UC. She has an unending dedication to the institution and all the faculty, staff and students that thrive within its borders. She sets an example that everyone should follow.

Brown-Oliphant does whatever it takes and graciously donates all the time necessary to forward the progress of the institution, regardless of her assigned duties. She puts in long, meaningful hours on campus and she often works from home, organizing projects and contacting faculty and students.

One faculty member stated that Brown-Oliphant, “Has consistently been ready to lend a hand in countless volunteer efforts, on and off campus, and puts great energy into her long and short term commitments.”

She supervises several work study students and the majority of them feel positively touched by her unique style of leadership and her kind heart. Her student workers feel as if she truly cares about them and is willing to assist them with any problem they may encounter whether it be work, academic, or related to their personal life.

“Agnes is a nurturing and caring person who gives freely of her time,” stated Brown-Oliphant’s direct supervisor. “She is devoted to both her personal family and extended university family. She has had a positive impact on hundreds of students during her tenure as an administrative assistant.”
