UC presents Cumberlands Singers concert


Williamsburg, Ky.,- The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Cumberland Singers presented a performance in the Nell Moore Recital Hall on November 21st. Dr. Jeff C. Smoak Jr., director of the performance, with Melissa Gibson accompanying on the piano, led the chorus.

Ten songs were performed that evening, including Jingle Bell Dash, Peace Like a River, Breath of Heaven and Gloria for All Seasons. The chosen pieces were a mix of spiritual and holiday songs.

“These guys and gals worked really hard,” said Director of the Music Department, Dr. Smoak.

Chosen from the 51 members of the Cumberland Singers, Annie Evdokiou had a solo during the final number which was Send Down Your Spirit, Lord. Also, during Silent Night, Aaron Brewer accompanied on the flute.

The event was filled with singing and joy, helping to prepare UC for the holiday season.

Cumberland Singers, an SATB choir of 60-80 members, is open to all University of the Cumberlands' students. The repertoire includes both sacred and secular selections representing all periods of choral music. Concerts are presented both on campus and in local churches. Cumberland Singers meets twice each week.
