Colegrove Serves as Featured Speaker at National Safety Conference

 


Williamsburg, Ky. - Dr. Michael B. Colegrove, Vice President for Student Services at University of the Cumberlands (UC) recently served as a featured speaker during the National School Safety Conference held in Las Vegas, NV. The conference was sponsored by the School Safety Advocacy Council (SSAC). The SSAC is the recognized leader in school safety based services and training.

The 2013 National Conference brought together more than 500 school safety professionals from 46 states and many countries. The week-long conference featured over 35 breakout sessions covering a broad range of topics related to school safety and security.

Dr. Colegrove’s session, titled School Safety Planning is a Community Affair focused on the importance of community involvement in the development of a comprehensive school safety plan. The elements of effective planning were discussed along with the importance of the involving a broad range of community agencies and organizations in the process.

Curtis Lavarello, Executive Director of the School Safety Advocacy Council stated, “The goal of the conference was to make certain that the best possible learning experience was delivered to those in attendance.” The ultimate objective of such a gathering is the creation of a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
