Cumberlands Announces Trustee Scholarship Recipients

Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) is pleased to announce that five students have been named Trustee Scholarship recipients for the 2013-2014 school year.

Trustee Scholarships are available for first-time freshmen with outstanding academic credentials. While academic credentials are very important, all elements of the application (essay, letters of recommendation, involvement and leadership) will be considered. Up to five students per year will be selected for this scholarship.

To apply for this scholarship, a student must score a 28 or higher composite on the ACT or a 1250 or higher (CR+M) on the SAT and must have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA.

This year’s recipients are: Kaylee Conrad, Marissa Hoffpauir, Shane Maples, Cassidy Phipps, and Christopher Setters.

Kaylee is the daughter of Steven and Tammy Conrad of Staffordsville, KY. She attended Johnson Central High School and plans to major in Chemistry/Pre-Pharmacy.

Marissa is the daughter of Randall and Stacey Hoffpauir of Thompsons Station, TN. She attended Independence High School and is currently undecided about her major.

Shane is the son of James and Pamela Maples of Walland, TN. He attended Heritage High School and plans to major in Music Education.

Cassidy is the daughter of Arthur and Jennifer Phipps of Corbin, KY. She attended Corbin High School and plans to major in Biology/Pre-Med.

Christopher is the son of Christopher and Martha Setters of Covington, KY. He attended Simon Kenton High School and plans to major in Biology/Physician Assistant Studies.

Trustee Scholarships amount to full-tuition, room and board per year for resident students and full tuition for commuters. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years.

Trustee Scholarship applications must be submitted by February 1. Applicants must be admitted to University of the Cumberlands and file the FAFSA by February 15. Fall 2014 applications will be available beginning December 1, 2013.
