Brittany Holliman named Munro Award winner

Williamsburg, Ky. – On Saturday, May 4th University of the Cumberlands (UC) senior Brittany Holliman (East Point, KY) was honored with the 2013 George S. Munro Memorial Prize during the University’s annual commencement ceremony.

The George S. Munro Memorial Prize in Pre-Medical Studies is awarded in honor of George S. Munro, a pastor and long-time board member at University of the Cumberlands by his son, Dr. Roger Munro, and his daughter-in-law, Nancy K. Munro. Dr. and Mrs. Munro give this award to the graduating senior pre-medical student who has been accepted into medical school and has achieved the highest grade point average through his or her college career in recognition of academic excellence and effort.

Holliman, the daughter of Kevin and Katrina Holliman, of East Point, majored in biology with a minor in chemistry, earning a 4.0 GPA while attending University of the Cumberlands.

Brittany has not only excelled in the classroom but has served as an example to help others. While maintaining her perfect GPA she has been a Resident Assistant, served as a worship leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, volunteered at the nursing home, been an active member of the Biology and Chemistry honor societies, been a member of the soccer team and served as a tutor for other students.

After graduation, Holliman will be attending University of Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine and plans to become a doctor and eventually go into mission work.
