Amanda Sickman receives multiple awards during UC’s Honor’s Day


Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented Amanda Sickman (Owensboro, KY) with the History Department’s 2013 History Award at the 54th annual Honors Day Program on Sunday, April 21st in the Gatliff Chapel.

Amanda was also awarded the Secondary Education Award by Cumberlands Education Department and named to the University’s High Honor Roll. Students recognized for this honor must attain a minimum of 3.85 cumulative grade point average standing.

Amanda will be graduating in May and has a 3.98 GPA. During her time on campus, Amanda has done outstanding work at the University. Among many activities, she has served as secretary of the Phi Alpha Theta Chapter, the national honors society in history for two years.

She has been published in The Upsilonian the past two years and presented a paper at the Kentucky Regional Conference in 2013

Amanda plans to obtain a teaching job upon graduation and later pursue her master’s degree.

The History and Political Science Departmental Awards are chosen on the basis of three criteria: academic achievement; service to the department; and service to the University.
