Alexander Martinez speaks at 2013 Business Forum

 


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Wednesday, April 17, University of the Cumberlands (UC) Hutton School of Business hosted the 6th annual Business Forum for Young Professionals.

The business forum is designed to prepare young professionals as they enter the business workforce. Industry professionals share their professional experiences and discuss ways in which businesses can thrive, not just survive, in any financial climate. The theme for 2013 was “How to Achieve Business Growth in a Recovering Economy.”

One of the speakers was Alexander Martinez who is a successful entrepreneur currently serving as President of All Star Outfitters, an apparel company with apparel sales revenue and on-site event merchandising revenue in the millions. The company is poised to launch a new product with projected revenue of $20 million.

Martinez founded and grew Athletic Championships LLC during a five year span to revenues over $4 million. He went on to sell the company to Varsity Brands and assumed a position of Senior Vice President with them.

In his role, Martinez led marketing and operations teams which conducted 18 events throughout the U.S. He was one of three partners in Mirobo LLC, a real estate management and development company based in Knoxville, TN. The company also provides capital and consulting for start-up companies.

Martinez holds a B.A. in English from UC, formerly known as Cumberland College.

The forum was founded by Mr. J. Hunt Perkins. Perkins, a geologist, is president of J. Hunt Perkins and Associates, Inc.; a Lexington firm established in 1983 that specializes in oil and gas exploration services, gas well drilling and field exploration services. A current member of Cumberlands Board of Trustees, his strong association with the university extends back to when his mother served more than ten years as the bursar for then Cumberland College.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; twelve graduate degrees, including two doctorate, two specialist and eight master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
