Paul Perkins speaks at 2013 Business Forum

 


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Wednesday, April 17, University of the Cumberlands (UC) Hutton School of Business hosted the 6th annual Business Forum for Young Professionals.

The business forum is designed to prepare young professionals as they enter the business workforce. Industry professionals share their professional experiences and discuss ways in which businesses can thrive, not just survive, in any financial climate. The theme for 2013 was “How to Achieve Business Growth in a Recovering Economy.”

One of the speakers was Paul Perkins who is the President and CEO of Amatrol Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of technical training systems and interactive multimedia software. In 2010 Amatrol was named the Outstanding Small Business of the Year by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Outstanding Small Business of the Year by Business First of Louisville.

Over the years’, Perkins has served as a consultant in the field of technical training that has included clients like Caterpillar, Siemens, Ford, GM, Toyota, and the U.S. Department of Labor. He designs training systems to teach technical skills and is the author of 20 books on industrial controls and automation.

Currently, Perkins serves as the Indiana State Workforce Innovation Council Chair, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Workforce Education Committee Chair, and the Ivy Tech Community College Regional Board of Trustees Chair.

Perkins holds a B.S. in mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.

The forum was founded by Mr. J. Hunt Perkins. Perkins, a geologist, is president of J. Hunt Perkins and Associates, Inc.; a Lexington firm established in 1983 that specializes in oil and gas exploration services, gas well drilling and field exploration services. A current member of Cumberlands Board of Trustees, his strong association with the university extends back to when his mother served more than ten years as the bursar for then Cumberland College.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; twelve graduate degrees, including two doctorate, two specialist and eight master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
