UC to host celebration for Pensworth

Williamsburg, Ky. - On Thursday, April 11, University of the Cumberlands (UC) will host a publication celebration for Pensworth, Cumberlands’ student literary journal, at 6pm in the Kohn Theatre on the UC campus. There will be a special guest speaker, student readers, and a reception to follow the event. Not only will the journal and its contributors be recognized and celebrated, but it’s also National Poetry Month.

Pensworth is a literary journal that is presented annually in the spring at UC. It made its debut in 1985 and has evolved and improved into its current online format. Pensworth has provided an outlet for students’ creative work and continues to allow them to express themselves as individuals. As expected, this year’s issue of the journal presents an impressive array of talents.

Students of the University of the Cumberlands may submit work for consideration for the next issue by the last Thursday before Christmas break. Submit original poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, photography and artwork at www.ucumberlands.edu/pensworth.

Proudly published in this issue is the writing manuscript of the University of the Cumberlands annual Creative Writing Awards, sponsored by the English Department. Submissions for the Creative Writing Award are accepted in late February and early March. For more information and submission guidelines, feel free to contact the UC English Department at 606-539-4455.

There will also be a presentation of the winning piece of the University of the Cumberlands’ annual, The Next Generation Creative Writing Award for local eighth grade and high school students.
