Cumberland Singers Present Concert

Williamsburg, Ky. - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Music Department presented the semester concert for the UC Singers vocal group on the evening of Tuesday November 13, 2012 in the Nell Moore Recital Hall, much to the enjoyment of music students and audience members alike. The group is directed by music department chair Jeff Smoak and accompanied by Kay Dawn McFarland during the performance.

Throughout the semester, they have been rehearsing many pieces in preparation for the event. From sacred and contemporary styles and holiday music, the concert was a huge success.

“It was a successful concert! Many of the students were nervous prior to the performance since some of the music this semester was more difficult than in previous semesters. However, the 60 singers rose to the challenge!” said director Dr. Jeff Smoak.

Cumberland Singers, an SATB choir of 60-80 members, is open to all University of the Cumberlands' students. The repertoire includes both sacred and secular selections representing all periods of choral music. Concerts are presented both on campus and in local churches. Cumberland Singers meets twice each week.
