Cumberlands Crowns Homecoming Royalty


Williamsburg, Ky. – On September 29th, the halftime highlight of the University of the Cumberlands (UC) game, in which the Patriots defeated the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders 61-29, was the crowning of Homecoming Queen Megan Fischer and the naming of Homecoming King Brendan Kelly.

Megan, a native of Dayton, OH, is an Elementary Education major and is the daughter of John and Karen Fischer.

Brendan, a native of Lexington, KY, is a Sports Management major and is the son of Pat and Sandy Kelly.

UC welcomed back alumni, current students, their family and friends, as well as members of the community during the annual Homecoming and Family Weekend event.

This year’s event, “Come Home…to Cumberlands Homecoming” featured a weekend of fun, class reunions, a musical, a carnival, a football game, fireworks, Disney Pixar’s Brave, community worship services and much more! A special reunion for the classes of ’62, ’67, ’72, ’77, ’82, ’87, ’92, ’97, ’02, ’07, and ’12 highlighted the weekend activities.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; twelve graduate degrees, including two doctorate, two specialist and eight master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
