Mirissa Cumpston Receives Angel Unaware Award

Williamsburg, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented the Angel Unaware award to Mirissa Cumpston (Williamsburg, KY) during the 53rd annual Honors Day ceremonies on Monday, April 23rd, in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

Each year Mr. and Mrs. Luther Smith bestow the Angel Unaware Award to an undergraduate student. The award honors a student who selflessly helps others through acts and deeds of kindness, who give of herself far beyond what is expected, who is always there to lend a helping hand, and who does so without expecting recognition.

Mirissa has shown her desire to help others through various means, whether through donations, community outreach work, or simply supplying a sick friend with 7-Up and crackers.

To highlight Mirissa’s commitment to others, her nominator stated, “Her life has not always been easy, and the way she still puts others before herself is nothing short of inspiring. Mirissa is not just a selfless person sometimes, but she is consistently selfless and always looking to help those around her.”

Mirissa, the daughter of Martha Cumpston, is studying human services and has aspirations of obtaining her Master’s degree.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
