Stephanie Lawless Receives Excellence in Elementary Education Award


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Monday, April 23rd, University of the Cumberlands (UC) student Stephanie Lawless (Corbin, KY) received the Excellence in Elementary Education Award during the annual Honors Day Convocation held in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. Lawless was also recognized for Honor for maintaining a grade point average above 3.70.

Stephanie was also named to the Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges. Who’s Who is open to juniors and seniors who have been selected by the faculty and staff. These students have excelled in one or more of the following areas: participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities; citizenship and service to the school and community; and potential for future achievement.

While at UC, Stephanie has been a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society, President of Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM), and a member of Appalachian Ministries.

The daughter of Randy and Karen Lawless, Stephanie is graduating with a certification in elementary education P-5 along with middle school Mathematics and English.

After graduation, she plans to obtain a teaching position, complete KTIP, and pursue a Master’s degree in a Math Specialty or School Counseling.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
