Cumberlands Student Receives Gorman Jones Scholarship

 


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Monday, April 23rd, University of the Cumberlands (UC) held their 53rd annual Honors Day Convocation in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. The program honors students, faculty/staff, and special guests for their hard work and dedication throughout the academic year.

One of those honored was Bethany Bargo (Barbourville, KY) who received the 2012 Gorman Jones Scholarship.

Bethany, who is a junior pursuing her degree in mathematics, was also recognized for High Honor for maintaining a minimum 3.85 grade point average.

The Gorman Jones Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student that shows evidence of strong academic proficiency. It is named after former Cumberlands professor Gorman Jones, who labored from 1891 until 1936 in service of local youth and the college.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
