Cumberlands Presents Honorary Degree to Linda Booth

Williamsburg, Ky. – On Saturday, May 5th, University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented the Honorary Doctorate of Administration degree to Mrs. Linda Booth during their annual commencement ceremony.

In the early 1980’s with her daughters in school, Mrs. Booth was able to first serve her community with Miss Jo Boomsma at Christian Appalachian Homes, an abuse center serving a five county area.

A platform was created for Mrs. Booth to use her passion for architecture and design from Mr. Booth’s business growth. Together they designed and built hotels, convenience stores, office buildings, private homes and in the center of the little town of Inez stands Miss Ida’s Tea Room, operated by Mrs. Booth in the memory of her Mother, Ida McCoy Davis.

Born in the mountains of Appalachia, Mrs. Booth credits that heritage for the development of ingenuity, creativity, a good work ethic and family devotion.

Subsequent years afforded Mrs. Booth further opportunities to serve as a board member of the Kentucky Opry, the Three Rivers Medical Center, Mountain Missions Development Corporation and currently as a founding member of Haven of Rest Family Ministries which ministers to inmates’ families at the Big Sandy Federal Prison.

Mrs. Linda Booth is married to James Booth and they are the parents of three daughters, Angie, Amy, and Andrea; they also have nine grandchildren. Booth says her wonderful grandchildren are her finest work and greatest blessing from God.

Linda Davis Booth resides in Inez, Kentucky. She is a graduate of Warfield High School and Morehead State University.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
